WHO AM I?
59To Be Human
What does it mean to be human?
I am not sure that I know
Some say that it is the fear of dying
To be self aware
To have the ability to know right from wrong
I wonder if it is something even more simple
Could it be just the ability to trust another
To love someone more than yourself
To have compassion for a stranger
What does it mean to be human
Maybe it is time for us all
To ponder this question
Humanity is becoming a lost art
We need to bring it back before we fall.

Who Am I?
We all ask this question every time life throws us a curve ball.
It is possibly the most difficult truth to uncover and comprehend.
I am intricate, complex, fragile, weak, inadequate, lacking in confidence, small in faith, full of fear, vindictive, and a bully.
I am simple, focused, purposeful, strong, confident, faithful, fearless, compassionate, forgiving, trusting, and loving.
I am simply what I choose to set my thoughts on. The past is the past. The future can’t be held. It is the present that truly matters. The present is made up of the decisions I made yesterday. If I focus my thoughts on negative things then my present and future are headed down a path of fear and loathing.
I am far from perfect; I have made uncountable negative decisions followed by negative actions resulting in unhappiness. I have done, said and behaved in ways that I should be ashamed of. I cannot go back and change those things but I can look to them as points in my life where I had the opportunity to effect change in myself.
The question is: do I take advantage of those opportunities or do I continue on the path of self-destruction?
Who am I?
I am a being of constant change. I just need to focus on positive change. Negative change, negative thoughts are the easy path. Positive thoughts and positive change are hard, that is why many of us choose not to follow this path. Which path in the end is the most rewarding? That is a dumb question but a valid one we must ask ourselves each and every day.
We must dream practical dreams, small incremental steps and then follow them with action. Positive thinking is worthless without action. Strong purposeful action is what creates change and change is growth. Just insure that the growth is headed in a positive direction. If it is not, take action and change the course. Take hold of the present don’t waste a moment of it. It is what life is, it is not your past, it is not the future. It is right here right now.
Who am I?
I am the ever-changing present.
Always moving, always living, always learning.

Wonderful statement, "Positive thinking is worthless without action." If people put into Action all the encouraging, enlightening, and healing things they talk about, this world would visibly change overnight!
